Welcome, and Enjoy.

this blog is one outlet that i have for my thoughts and emotions, an online journal if you will. it is my life, or that is what it has become. i started out with not knowing what i wanted it to be. at first it was a place to just relay some funny things going on in my life like the Chick-Fil-A Chronicles. then it turned in to a place to post quizzes and the like that i thought amusing as time has gone on i have shared much of my person life. and after a few years of writing i realized what this blog is about. it is about me. all these thing that i have written about are about "where i am in my life".

* as a note - on fridays i post youtube videos. i hope you enjoy them.

* a further note - i almost never capitalize anything and i do not spell very well, and my grammar is not the best.

Band Practice

no i am not in a band. i myself do not play and instrument. however i am a big lover of music. one of the reasons that i love working sound for the church. sometime it is a drag, but most of the time i do not mind it. tonight is practice for sunday. having the band play in service is mostly new and we are working out the details how it all works together. but i have a issue with the organization of the group, or the lack there of. also the fact that half of the singers and some of the band members are not there is a bit annoying. grant it we have 2 drummers and 2 bass players. more then anything i get annoyed with the singers not showing up then expecting to sing on sunday when they have not practiced with the group. i suppose i the notion that if you are not there for practice you should not participate. maybe to many years of playing sports and that was the policy. oh well. i just felt like ranting while i was sitting here.

Our past worship ministers set the limits about not practicing and then singing. He did make exceptions when we needed them. It makes me crazy when they are late on Sunday mornings because we deserve potty breaks before service. I run the slides a lot of the times, so as you know, when it’s go time we can’t leave until all is over. It helps when we have three of us in the booth so we have back up to slide over. I have yet to learn the new sound equipment so I don’t have to do much for the bands that we book any longer. Some of those folks made me crazy because they wanted to rant all night during a sound check with a sub (ME). About all I have to do now is open doors and iron out little issues for folks. I guess I should learn more. Then again the more you know the more you do. ;-)

thanks milly. at least i know i am not the only one. as i was posting this i was wondering if i was being to critical. but then again when i ask for help i do not get it. but i'm not bitter. ;-) and as the only person at the sound system i have to know (not it all, i will never know that, but) most of what is going on.

I don’t think your being critical at all. They sometimes forget about us. For a while it was just two of us and at times it still is when one of us has things to do. One of our younger folks joined the team so it has really helped. We don’t have musical instruments during services so that helps a bit. However the singers have issues at times. I’m rather sarcastic at times so we blend rather well. (Insert sly smile here)
We couldn’t do it with just one person in the booth doing everything because of its size. In the other one we can with one because poor “G” had to do it all when I was going through the early stages of my break up. I’d sit next to him and cry while he turned the knobs and pushed faders. Thank God for guys like that who never questioned me sitting there or asked much of me.

Let them know that as much as you love what you do you want to teach a young’un chances are one of them wants to learn. I also joined the team that handles worship stuff. (I think they have a name fer the thang) let them know that they need to start on time get me the slide stuff early and I want 15 min. for fixing stuff and a potty break. I’m gonna keep asking. ;-}
