The Kids Are Back

well both the kids came back this weekend. my daughter was not suppose to come back until this next week. however with some breakdowns in communication she no longer had a ride back from her sisters. her sisters live about 460 miles away on the other side of the state. as it also works out i had other things going on this weekend so was not able go and get her. so my roommate drove out there and got her for me. i paid for gas and after 15 hours they got home sunday morning about 5 am. my son came home from camp saturday afternoon. i was working the concession stand at the College World Series that day, and my friend that drove down there as a counselor got back before i was done, so they went to relay for life. that is were i picked him up. ironically, the two guys that brought my kids back home are brothers. i think it kind of funny.

so my son had a really good time at camp. he has come back with a new interest in the bible. it is really touching, i have had to stop myself several times from crying with joy at his asking questions. saturday evening he was in the living room reading matthew, while i tried to get a nap.

my daughter was bored most of the time with her sisters. but she got to see her nephew be born. she is glad to be back. she is also decided not to be a vegetarian anymore. while she was visiting she did not tell her sisters that she did not eat meat. so she just ate what was there. she has decided to continue eating meat.

i volunteered to work the concession stand at the College World Series for a fund raiser. i am working it again on thursday. it was a lot of fun but a lot of work. i made about 200 nachos. and not just the chips and cheese nachos, but with meat, lettuce, onion, black olive, jalapenos, salsa and sour cream. they looked good but i was not about to eat anything, not because it was bad stuff, i was just not hungry. working with food does that to me. i think i would make a rather skinny chief. but then it would be the first time in my life that i was skinny. i also started with a group that plays dungeons and dragons on friday nights. this is the first time that i have ever played dnd, i have played other role playing games. i was fun, i look forward to getting to know the rest of the group. i was invited to the group by the sister and brother-in-law of a friend to the group. as it turns out i also knew one of the other guys, and he helped me with a lot of how to play. so that is this weekends updates.
